Things that help me be happy in the morning

Starting the year I realized that I had anxiety. I had it all my life, but it got worse with the situation we are currently experiencing due to the pandemic. It was so much that I had to start doing activities that made me happy in the mornings since they were the part of the day that caused the most stress and anxiety.

Fortunately, over time I have been developing an infallible morning routine that always works for me to be happy and start my day with all the attitude.

…Today I want to share it with you.

Remember that we are all different, and what works for me may not be the same that works for you.

My Routine:

Due to the pandemic, I had to start doing home office so I have to connect early. Because of this, I get up 2 hours early to be ready.

1. Just one decent and quiet alarm

Instead of having 10 alarms every 5 minutes, I preferred just one that makes me not jump out of bed, only to realize that it is already daylight. My cell phone has many options, I opted for one that starts the sound from low to high and with sounds of nature like birds or the sea. The loud alarms woke me up, but at the same time, they gave me anxiety and frustration just by opening my eyes.

2. Yoga and Meditation

Later I brush my teeth and prepare to do yoga. I’m not a fitness person, so exercise is hard for me. So I opted to start with yoga, which helps me a lot to feel calm. You don’t need to be an expert, YouTube has many classes for beginners in all languages. I try not to spend more than 30 minutes on this.

3. Take a shower with happy music

This is one of my favorite parts, if you organize your schedule well, you can have enough time to take a relaxing shower listening to your favorite songs (sometimes singing) without any rush.

4. Take off your pajamas

Something that I noticed that changed my mood is to dress up. It doesn’t matter if I’m not going out (because of Home Office). When I keep the same clothes, I felt without spirit. So I always try to dress up, not formally but something different from my pajamas. Combing my hair, maybe not putting on makeup but doing my skincare routine.

5. Time for me

No matter how much work I have, before I sit in front of my laptop, open my email, and start work, I always make myself some tea. My favorites are green and ginger teas.
When my tea is ready, I put my cell phone aside and sit on the window, door, or whatever gives me fresh air. Right there I start to write what I want, how I feel, and how I felt yesterday. Thoughts you have at the time (good or bad). That helps me take out all my worries.

Reading how you felt in previous days makes us reflect on how far we have come.

6. To-Do List

In the same place (drinking my tea), I start to create a to-do list with things I have to do that day (both personal and work), only until that moment I allow myself to think about work and all the stress I have, NO BEFORE. Try breaking it down into small tasks to make them easier to complete.

And Finally, after finish my ritual, I am ready to start my day.

I hope my tips help you create your own Morning Routine to feel good and be super productive in your day. Remember that being happy is a decision and you decide if your day will be good or absolutely great!
